If I use powersaving mode, my CPU's run a little slower, but run cooler, and I get longer batter life. I noticed that my laptop has various CPU modes like powersaving and performance modes. You might also consider installing TLP, etc. If there are settings in an app for use hardware acceleration, you can try enabling or disabling that, restarting the application to test.Īs for notebook and laptop power saving, there are various setting you can tweak. Which version of VLC are you using? Have you tried another media player like SMplayer? Make sure you have ffmpeg version 3 or 4 installed along with x264 and x265 packages from the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)". If you run " inxi -Fxzd" and " lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.
